UK Water & Gas Connections
A multi-tenant platform where UK water and gas networks take new connection applications — from customer portal and quotes to payments and SLAs.
Getting a new water or gas connection in the UK means applications, site details, fees, quotes and payments that move between the customer and the network operator. We built one platform that runs that whole process for several UK water and gas networks, each as its own tenant.
Customers apply and track progress in a client portal; staff work cases in an admin portal with a configurable workflow engine, a form builder with 30+ field types, a fee calculator and a quote generator. Scheduled jobs chase payments, surveys and expiring quotes against SLAs, and the platform integrates with SAP, payment providers, GIS mapping and the contact centre.
The backend is Hono on AWS Lambda with PostgreSQL (a schema per tenant), Cognito sign-in, SQS queues and SES email. We first built the infrastructure with SST and later migrated it to Terraform.
